Red Kettles Represent Love

Nov 29, 2021

As we prepare for the birth of Jesus Christ, we are reminded of God’s infinite love for all of us, and our duty to extend that love to our neighbors. There is no easier way to do this at Christmastime than by donating to a Salvation Army red kettle. They can be found in front of stores and on street corners, in addition to online red kettle fundraisers that have been created by family members, friends, and supporters.

Your generosity ensures hope marches on in your community through a variety of year-round services and programs. The money raised helps people of all ages and backgrounds who are experiencing hard times and need assistance with essentials such as food, clothing, and housing.

Many of the people we serve are lower-income adults and their families who are experiencing pandemic poverty. Someone in their household has either lost a job or taken a pay cut since the Covid-19 outbreak began in February 2020, and as a result, they are now facing eviction from their home.

The money collected in the red kettles enables The Salvation Army to meet people where they are and walk with them on their journey to financial recovery.

By donating you make a difference because:

  • Children living in poverty will receive Christmas gifts.
  • Families will have enough food to eat.
  • Homeless people will have a safe place to sleep.
  • Seniors will receive the support they need to thrive.
  • Disaster relief services can facilitate healing and rebuilding.
  • The Gospel is shared with others through words and actions.

When you see the red kettles and hear the bells ringing during the next few weeks, please help us fill them. This is an actionable way you can show your love for God and others. This holiday season, your neighbors are counting on you to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
