This 4th of July we celebrate freedom and independence from addiction

Jul 3, 2014 | by Jonathan Bukiewicz

This 4th of July we’re celebrating the people who fought for our freedom.

You’re one of those people.

Every time you give to The Salvation Army you empower someone like Mike to get free of addiction, homelessness, hunger and more.

So today we want to say Thank You for fighting for freedom!

Click the white arrow to see and hear Mike tell his freedom story.

Mike slowly started to give everything he had to drugs. Meth in particular.

So much so that he lost his wife and and two sons in the process.

But he’s a work in progress and next month he expects to be reunited with his family so he can prove that God’s changed him and made him a new man.

Here’s what that change feels like in Mike’s own words: “The love that I feel from the people around me in The Salvtion Army can only be from God. I can be completely honest with somebody and not be judged…I don’t have to pretend to be anybody: I can be me. That feeling inside is better than any drug, any drink, any pill I’ve ever taken.”

To invest in people like Mike, you can:

:: Use your wallet – give a gift that helps free someone from addiction, homelessness, hunger and more.
:: Use your stuff – go to www.satruck.org to give to our Family Stores.
:: Use your voice – spread Mike’s story through your social networks by sharing the original story here.

Thank you and Happy Independence Day!
